Aanchal is the story of two brothers, Kishan (Amol Palekar) and Shambhu (Rajesh Khanna). Kishan is married to Shanti (Rakhee), but they are unable bear any children. Tulsi (Rekha) shifts her home to the same village. Shambhu falls in love with her. The evil Jaggan Prasad (Prem Chopra) devises a plan to separate Shambhu and Tulsi as he is jealous of Shambhu. He spreads a rumour that Shambhu is having an affair with his sister in law Shanti. How will Kishan react to this rumour? Will it effect his relationship with Shanti?
