The Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) is poised to make history as its lunar mission Chandrayaan-3's Vikram lander attempts a touchdown on the south polar region of the Moon at around 18:04 hours today, August 23. The mission's climax hinges on a crucial 15-minute phase, during which the lander transitions from high-speed horizontal to gentle vertical descent onto the lunar surface. Isro confirmed that the “mission is on schedule”, and also shared images of the Moon's far side, captured by the lander.
